NAR and the local Realtor associations are people/organizations that have worked to put together a cooperative system for the Real Estate industry. Generally, very successfully. Definitely not perfect and in need of much internal housekeeping. Much like any large organization MEMBERSHIP IS VOLUNTARY for crying out loud!
You can be a Real Estate agent and not have to be a part of NAR and it’s affiliates. I know plenty of Real Estate agents who are not members of NAR. They do a pretty good business for themselves.
There are in fact other Real Estate organizations and services available out there. Just like retail, automotive and any other service industry you care to name, you can go elsewhere. There are stores, auto sellers etc. that I refuse to do business with. I take my money and time elsewhere because I have choices.
Same in Real Estate. Don’t like an organization. Pick an alternative or start your own.
Don’t like what is going on in an organization like NAR……..Then become involved with the leadership, become the leadership and DO BETTER!
