Coldwell Banker Previews International® celebrates its 80th anniversary this month, the company announced. This milestone pays tribute to the legacy started in 1933 by Previews, Inc. founder Henderson Talbot, a real estate entrepreneur who redefined luxury real estate marketing by pioneering the use of motion pictures to “preview” exclusive homes.
Talbot’s firm was acquired in 1980 by Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC and re-launched as Coldwell Banker Previews International®, utilizing Talbot’s vision as the impetus for a global luxury sales program and today translating his past use of film into high-quality streaming video. In 2012, Coldwell Banker® agents handled more than 16,400 transaction sides of homes priced at $1 Million or more, averaging $86.1 Million in sales every day, for a total of $31 Billion in sales volume, touting an average sales price of $1.93 Million.
“Today, Coldwell Banker has expanded upon the Previews legacy by embracing the power of high-end photography, videos and personalization to transform the online search experience for luxury properties,” says Budge Huskey, president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. “Now, luxury homebuyers from across the globe can explore some of the world’s finest homes in a way they could never experience before.”
The Coldwell Banker Previews International leadership in the luxury arena traces its roots back to July 1933 when Talbot formed his firm. The former Time and Fortune magazines’ promotions manager aimed to create interest in luxury properties that often languished on the market during the Depression era. He developed a high-end magazine and utilized motion pictures to “preview” a property much like a trailer promoted a coming movie.
“Coldwell Banker Previews International handles more than $86 million in luxury homes sales every day,” says Betty Graham, president of Coldwell Banker Previews International, NRT. “We our proud of our history, our legacy and the exceptional luxury real estate specialists who represent our brand throughout the world.”
