Jon Coile was recently appointed as vice president of MLS and industry relations for HomeServices of America, a new role created to build relationships between brokerages, MLSs and REALTOR® associations.
Coile is also the proud chairman of Bright MLS. Formed in 2017 when nine REALTOR® association-owned MLS services merged, Bright MLS represents 95,000 real estate professionals in the Mid-Atlantic U.S.
Less than three years into the large consolidation, Coile says Bright MLS has worked through the “merger pains” and started to find its stride as an industry leader in innovation of new technology for MLSs. In 2019, Bright MLS’ greatest accomplishments included conducting a successful nationwide search for the best executive to lead the MLS, integrating a social media marketing tool right into the listing add/edit module, and paving the way to launch a cutting-edge alternative front end, giving subscribers a choice in their user interface.
“Bright MLS was created to move the industry forward with innovation. Agents need to have more, and better, data than their clients can get on the internet,” says Coile. “We are delivering on the promise of keeping our subscribers at the center of the transition with the best data tools available in the industry.”
Coile has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the real estate industry, including over a dozen years as CEO of a regional brokerage. He’s a member of the NAR MLS Committee and NAR Technology and Emerging Issues Advisory Board, as well as co-founder of FairDisplay.org.
