Venkatesh “Ven” Ganapathy, co-founder and CEO of MoveEasy, says the company’s greatest accomplishment of 2019 was its transition from being just a moving concierge platform to a turnkey, full-service “concierge for life” for brokerages.
“We felt that if we are to truly become a technology-backed broker enablement service, we need to shift from a standalone moving solution to a complete homeownership solution,” explains Ganapathy. “With our shift, we instead became the infrastructure that brokerages could use to manage all their post-transaction relationships, thus truly being able to help the homeowner well after the transaction.”
According to Ganapathy, his team was able to deliver on all fronts, making a flexible platform that’s easy to customize and add partners; creating the service network across multiple channels, including online, a live concierge team and Amazon Alexa, for both during and after the transaction; and building a backend infrastructure to support all of this.
Ganapathy says the motto “customer first” summarizes “our philosophy, our accomplishments and the industry in general,” which he believes is going through “an amazing phase that is extremely customer-centric.”
A first-generation immigrant, Ganapathy came to the U.S. in 2008 to earn his MBA from The Ohio State University. After graduating, he joined A.T. Kearney, a management consulting company in Chicago, as a sourcing consultant. The idea for MoveEasy came to him when he was moving from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. In 2013, he quit his consulting career to start MoveEasy along with his long-time friend and business partner, Niraj Patel.
