In 2019, UpstreamRE President and CEO Alex Lange negotiated the company’s separation from RPR/NAR and subsequent agreement with CoreLogic as its new vendor. The partnership allowed the development and deployment of the first release within six months. Within 10 months of contract signing, UpstreamRE is going live in 14 of the largest MLSs in the country.
The Upstream platform is designed to help brokerages manage listing data and firm records in one place, rather than entering data with dozens of software vendors and MLS systems. It allows agents to upload data once and automatically share it with every connected software system, which dramatically improves efficiency. Upstream also enables brokers to upload an unlimited number of high-resolution photos and videos so vendors can find those assets in one place, rather than search several MLSs. In addition, brokers can create multiple feeds through Upstream and only send vendors the information they need, when they need it, which improves security and provides opportunities for targeted marketing.
Before joining Upstream, Lange held leadership positions with Second Century Ventures, Market Leader and Art.com and founded Roost. A graduate of Harvard’s General Management Program, Lange has a unique understanding of how to best optimize industry data as an asset.
Lange shares the following piece of wisdom from “The Gap and the Gain” by Dan Sullivan: “The way to measure your progress is backward against where you started, not against your ideal.”
