Ben Rubenstein and fellow Newsmaker Michael Lam co-founded Opcity in December 2015. The technology platform uses large proprietary datasets and applied analytics to match top agents with qualified homebuyers and sellers in real-time with no upfront cost. Opcity’s mission is to make the home-buying and -selling process easier and more efficient for everyone involved.
As chief executive officer, Rubenstein helped Opcity grow significantly in a short period of time. In less than three years, the company grew to have 400 employees and over 40,000 agents. Move, Inc., a subsidiary of News Corp., entered into an agreement to acquire Opcity earlier this year with a $210 million exit.
Rubenstein is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in founding data-driven organizations, building large inside sales teams and managing online marketing and lead conversion. Before creating Opcity, Rubenstein co-founded Yodle, an online marketing solution for local businesses that provides websites, social media management and other services. He grew the company to over 1,500 employees and 55,000 small business customers, resulting in a $342 million exit.
Rubenstein has been widely recognized for his achievements. He was named a member of the Inc. magazine 30 Under 30, the Empact100, Austin Inno’s 50 on Fire and an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2018. His companies have also received recognition, with both Opcity and Yodle named Top Workplaces in Austin.
