Cori McQueen, a broker at Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage in Carolina Beach, N.C., is dedicated to helping both her clients and her community.
After her husband, Steve, died of cancer, McQueen has been heavily involved with the Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Lo Tide Run, an annual fundraiser event honoring him. Founded in 2005, the fundraiser provides monetary assistance to local residents who are battling cancer and struggling with financial obligations. It empowers the community to come together to support and honor local cancer warriors through fun, inspiring events. McQueen also helped incorporate The Lo Tide Run Gala, an evening of dinner, dancing and a silent auction, and she successfully put on a second annual gala in 2019, with all proceeds going toward the fund.
McQueen spent most of her life working in the restaurant industry, where she learned that timeliness, listening skills, service, teamwork and being personable were the keys to success. She loved making patrons feel welcome in her establishment, the camaraderie of the staff and the opportunity to help shape her young employees into the lovely people they are today. In 2011, she decided to start serving people at a higher level, and the obvious choice was real estate.
“I have a passion for serving others, and getting results for my clients is the reward,” says McQueen. “Real estate is not about buying or selling houses; it’s about serving others and building relationships. I love my job, and I love helping others achieve their goals and dreams.”
