As Zillow Co-Founder Rich Barton stepped down from his role as CEO, Jeremy Wacksman rose to the occasion with a promotion to that title in August 2024. Part of the Zillow team since 2009 and having served as the company’s chief operating officer since 2021, Wacksman was a natural choice to step into an even greater leadership role.
“The work we’re doing to bring the integrated transaction to life through exceptional tech solutions for consumers and agents will transform residential real estate,” said Wacksman in a statement following his promotion. “I love this company and its mission, and I am honored to lead our extraordinary team into the next phase of Zillow’s growth.”
A believer that NAR’s settlement and rule changes will bring only “evolutionary change that results in more educated and more transparent consumers,” Wacksman gave his first speech as Zillow CEO at the company’s Unlock Annual Agent Conference in October 2024 and reiterated his belief that empowering consumers furthers the cause of agents.
