Katharine Lau

Stuf Storage

Katharine Lau is redefining the self-storage industry by transforming underutilized spaces into tech-enabled storage solutions. Named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2022 and featured on Inc. Magazine’s Female Founders 100 list, Lau leads with bold vision and a passion for reinventing consumer experiences in the physical world.

In the first half of 2024, Lau spearheaded Stuf’s rapid expansion, doubling its portfolio and opening new locations in Los Angeles and New York. Stuf now operates in nearly 30 locations across major U.S. cities, including Boston, Atlanta and Seattle. She also introduced an innovative price-lock membership, a new insurance program and a brand partnership with Lugg, the “Uber of moving trucks.”

During the pandemic, Lau was inspired by her personal struggle to find safe, reliable storage in Brooklyn. Her solution, Stuf, benefits both property owners and consumers, creating up to $300,000 in annual revenue per space while offering modern, accessible storage solutions.

A real estate veteran, Lau previously led supply growth at Industrious, pioneering its asset-light expansion strategy, and worked with brands like Equinox and PGIM Real Estate. Her leadership continues to shape Stuf as a gamechanger in self-storage.
