Leslie Rouda Smith is not just a REALTOR® broker associate at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. In fact, she is currently serving as the 2023 immediate past president of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), representing nearly 1.5 million REALTORS®. She has been a member of NAR’s Board of Directors since 2009 and has served several years on its Executive Committee.

Supported by a majority-female leadership team, Rouda Smith will spend this year building out efforts to combat discrimination, cement advocacy and foster technological innovation—all initiatives that have proven incredibly urgent over the past few years. She relies on what she calls the “three S’s” of safety, strength and sustainability to guide REALTORS® toward an equitable future for real estate.

Daughter of Harley E. Rouda Sr., founder of HER REALTORS®, Rouda Smith grew up in a real estate-focused family. Today, she is the matriarch of her own real estate family, including her husband, Brian, and children, Kristin and Austin, all of whom are REALTORS® at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.

“I often joke that I was conceived in real estate because my father, 1991 NAR President Harley Rouda, started his real estate company while my mother was pregnant with me,” says Rouda Smith. “So I guess you could say I was born into the industry!”

Rouda Smith served as chairman of the board of Texas REALTORS® in 2016, and two years later, she was named the state’s 2018 REALTOR® of the Year. She is also the founder of the Texas REALTORS® State YPN Network and a dedicated volunteer for affordable housing programs, neighborhood revitalization and housing opportunity initiatives.

“I’m a high-energy person; I’m excited to lift people up,” she says. “We’ve all been through a lot, and I believe part of my job is to inspire renewed energy.”
