In 2019, Paul Yorkis, president of Patriot Real Estate Inc., was appointed by Dr. Ben Carson, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as a member of the Housing Counseling Federal Advisory Committee, which represents 1.4 million REALTORS®.
“I am honored to serve as the link between the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the HUD Office of Housing Counseling to improve and expand housing counseling services across America,” Yorkis says.
Yorkis has extensive experience in real estate sales, development, planning, permitting, environmental issues and wetlands. He is a certified real estate mediator and has held several leadership positions with the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®, the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® and other organizations.
A long-time resident of Medway, Mass., Yorkis has served on the Medway Conservation Commission, Planning Board, Long Range Planning Committee, Economic Development Committee and Redevelopment Authority. He represented the Town of Medway on the regional planning committee SWAP for more than 20 years.
Yorkis wrote numerous grants, including one for more than $1 million to acquire Idyllbrook Farm, which is now Idyllbrook Park in Medway, and an NAR Placemaking Grant for a pocket park in Medway. He wrote state and federal earmarks for transportation planning funds for the Medway Route 109 project and secured $12 million in construction funds as chair of the Route 109 Committee. In addition, Yorkis led the establishment of the commuter shuttle bus service from Medway to the Norfolk train station.
