As director of the commercial division for Houlihan Lawrence in Rye Brook, N.Y., Tom LaPerch has his hands in all aspects of the commercial brokerage, including managing its agents, cultivating business prospects and closing deals both locally and internationally.
In 2019, LaPerch closed his third international deal. Over the past three years, he has worked to build a strong relationship with an international client, which continues to provide a solid stream of international opportunities. In the past year, he successfully advised this client in divesting their underperforming properties to reallocate their portfolio in Hong Kong, Guatemala and Tokyo totaling over $130 million in sales.
LaPerch launched Houlihan Lawrence’s commercial division in 2013 and grew it from two to 37 agents over six years. His 30 years of experience in marketing, investment and government land planning have helped him build a brokerage managing a portfolio of multimillion-dollar properties in medicine, technology and land conservation. Notable deals include the $4.5 million sale of a former IBM plant and the $4 million sale of the abandoned Hudson River State Psychiatric Hospital.
LaPerch also serves as the liaison between Houlihan Lawrence’s commercial brokerage and residential brokerage.
“The synergy my team has been able to create between the Houlihan Lawrence residential and commercial brokerages has been the launchpad to our group’s success,” he says. “This business model really means the sky is the limit, with agents selling to captains of industry and synergizing with the residential team to share leads, driving business opportunities across brokerages.”
