HomeServices of America, Inc. has acquired Ebby Halliday Real Estate, Inc., a legacy North Texas powerhouse. The acquisition includes the brands Ebby Halliday, REALTORS®, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and William Trew Real Estate, as well as affiliates Home Team Mortgage and Texas Premier Title. As has been customary with HomeServices, the brand’s names will remain the same. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Ebby Halliday, REALTORS® is No. 11 in RISMedia’s 2018 Power Broker Report, closing $8 billion in sales volume in 2017. The company was founded in 1945 by Ebby Halliday, an icon as one of the industry’s pioneering women, and has gone on to encompass more than 1,700 agents in 35 offices. Halliday passed away in 2015. The firm is led by longtime CEO and President Mary Frances Burleson, who, among numerous other recognitions, received RISMedia’s National Homeownership Award in 2014. The firm is a Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® and Luxury Portfolio International® member, and part of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate. Burleson and CFO Ron Burgert will continue to head up Ebby’s growth strategy and manage operations.
“Ebby Halliday is a premier company with talented, experienced agents, long-term ties to the communities and a brand that is well-known throughout the industry,” says Ron Peltier, CEO/chairman of HomeServices. “We are honored to be part of Ebby Halliday’s future and are committed to its continued growth and success. This is an important transaction for HomeServices, and we are very proud to welcome the Ebby Halliday Companies to the HomeServices family.”
“Finding the right partner to maintain the legacy, culture and integrity of the Ebby Halliday Companies was of utmost importance,” says Burleson. “We are joining an organization known for its strength and stability, and for its impeccable reputation and commitment to protecting brands. Joining with HomeServices ensures that our history of market leadership and industry service continues.”
“The Ebby Halliday brand and its legacy of integrity and service to our clients, industry and community will continue as it has for the past 73 years,” says Burgert. “Simply put, joining HomeServices makes us an even stronger company. HomeServices is an outstanding company that shares our commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. We are thrilled with this partnership and the many benefits it brings our valued clients, agents and employees.”
Along with the acquisition, the firm formed the Ebby Halliday Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
“Among Ebby’s greatest passions was service to the community she proudly called home,” Burleson says. “A tireless volunteer, her philanthropic impact on North Texas cannot be overstated. Through the Ebby Halliday Foundation, her legacy will be felt in our community and beyond for many years to come.”
Ebby Halliday is the latest move by HomeServices, which acquired Houlihan Lawrence, a leader in New York City’s northern suburbs, in January 2017, and The Long & Foster Companies in the Mid-Atlantic in September. HomeServices is No. 2 in RISMedia’s 2018 Power Broker Report, closing more than $125 billion in sales volume in 2017. An affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway, the brand owns Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Real Living Real Estate and Prudential Real Estate.
