Leading brokers from around the nation will gather next week in New Orleans to be the guests of honor at RISMedia’s 19th Annual Power Broker Reception & Dinner, being held on Friday, Nov. 7, during the annual NAR convention.
RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Reception & Dinner is an exclusive, by-invitation-only event honoring the Top 500 brokers in RISMedia’s Annual Power Broker Report & Survey, published the previous April. The evening of honors includes a cocktail reception followed by the dinner, an awards ceremony and is capped by a celebrity guest appearance. This year, famed investigative journalist for the Washington Post and prolific non-fiction author, Bob Woodward, will serve as the special guest speaker at the Power Broker Dinner. Woodward’s presentation is sponsored by the event’s Diamond-level sponsor, Bank of America Home Loans.
Woodward is perhaps best known for serving with Carl Bernstein as lead reporters on Watergate. Woodward and Bernstein were assigned to report on the June 17, 1972 burglary of the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee in a Washington, D.C., office building called Watergate. Their work, under the late editor Benjamin C. Bradlee, was the first to report on political “dirty tricks” used by the Nixon re-election committee. Their book about the scandal, “All the President’s Men,” became a No. 1 bestseller and was later turned into a movie. The 1976 film, starring Robert Redford as Woodward and Dustin Hoffman as Bernstein, transformed the reporters into celebrities and inspired a wave of interest in investigative journalism.
During the Power Broker Dinner, Woodward will provide an insider’s look on the current political environment in Washington, D.C., and the conflict in the Middle East.
