RISMEDIA, April 24, 2007-Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. announced the formation of two new leadership positions spearheading the expansion of its distributed retail division, which originates loans through relationships with consumers, builders and real estate professionals. The company has promoted Jim Comosa to managing director, distributed retail east. His counterpart will be Tom Hunt, managing director, distributed retail west.
"I am very pleased to announce the implementation of a longtime vision to accelerate Countrywide's growth," said Dan Hanson, Countrywide's managing director of distributed retail. "The creation of these roles is of strategic importance to growing our retail division."
A 26-year financial veteran, Comosa joined Countrywide in 2002 as the executive vice president of the Northeast division of its consumer markets division. Under his leadership, the Northeast division, which includes the New England states and New York, delivered an 81% increase in total volume by growing branches and adding home loan consultants. Prior to joining Countrywide, Comosa led the mortgage production and operations in 21 Eastern states at North American Mortgage Company.
Hunt began his career at Countrywide in 2002 as senior vice president and most recently served as divisional executive vice president of the Southern California/Nevada region in 2004. In these roles, he has led the top region and division, respectively, in terms of growth, production and net contribution. Tom has been in the mortgage business for 22 years and has held positions including loan officer, branch manager and was one of the top district managers at North American Mortgage Company before joining Countrywide.
The current division executive vice presidents will report to Comosa and Hunt. The new leadership roles represent the first step in aligning the organizational structure to support Countrywide's aggressive goals in remaining the dominant leader in retail mortgage banking, added Hanson.
