A mother/daughter team, Brenda and Allison have based their business practices on the perfect combination of honesty, a positive mindset, and immediate follow-up. Here, meet the duo from Henry County, Georgia, and understand their motives when it comes to staying successful.

Years in real estate: Brenda since 1987. Allison since 1996.
When and why was the team formed?
My dad was a builder so we have always been a real estate family. But 20 years ago my father had a brain aneurysm and was disabled. So my mom went to work. There were four kids and she had a real estate license so she became a Realtor and was a success from the word “go.” I joined her 11 years ago and our team has done extremely well.
What’s your best tip for getting a listing at the right price?
Be honest with your seller about the market. You can’t go in and be negative, but you need the seller on board to be creative and make his or her house special; and it has to be clean and well-maintained to sell in this market.
What’s your best idea for holding effective team meetings?
We go to lunch a lot and encourage each other. We have to stay positive. We feel it’s important to come into the office every day, contact buyers and figure out new ways to create business.
What works best in generating online leads?
Realtor.com and the RE/MAX Web sites have been extremely helpful. The key is also to follow up quickly with leads. If you don’t follow up within an hour, they go somewhere else. So we get back to them as fast as possible.
What could your broker be doing to better support your team?
This is our first year with RE/MAX and they give us so much service. There is so much available here. We get leads, referrals, walk-ins. I would say my broker supports us very well.
How are you developing your team into a true business entity? Have you formed an LLC or incorporated?
We are incorporated. Being incorporated is the way to go as far as taxes.
What is the key to being successful as a team?
Every person on the team, even if there are only two people, you have to be going in the same direction. You have to have the same core beliefs. You have to treat your clients the same way. It is very important to put in the same amount of hours or you get resentful.
