Play Ball-with the Winning Attitude

RISMEDIA, Oct. 28, 2008-Baseball fever is here. And whether or not you’re a fan, it’s hard to ignore the escalating drama of the World Series.

Take the Tampa Bay Rays, for example. They started the season with the worst record in the league. The odds of turning that around, much less winning a World Series were nearly insurmountable. This was a team that had never in its history played in a World Series. A losing record and no Series experience-the fact that they started winning was seen as just a fluke.

But they kept winning-and winning. In all, they spent 109 days in first place. Not only that, but they made it into the Series. And the jury is still out on just how far they’ll go.

Designated hitter and right fielder Jonny Gomes said, “It’s something I’ve never experienced, to be looking down on the American League, instead of looking up.”

How did the Tampa Bay Rays go from nine last-place rankings in 10 years to playing in the World Series? The shocking reality is that it had nothing to do with raw talent.

It’s attitude. A winning attitude will take you exactly where you want to go, whether it’s the World Series or a better bottom line.

Today’s real estate agents are caught up in the same pessimistic environment of a baseball team on a long losing streak. It’s easy to let that negativity impact our work. After all, if “everyone” is saying that the market is a bust, we’re not going to sell, right?

That’s where the winning attitude comes in. You may not be able to change the market, but you can change your thoughts. And your thoughts are directly responsible for the results that you achieve.

Here are two things that you can do to foster that winning attitude, and make a real difference in your bottom line.

Take the Time to Journal

We have millions of thoughts a day, most of which we’re not even consciously aware. Yet these thoughts ultimately affect our actions. By journaling, we can become more aware of our thoughts. We can focus on the thoughts that are most relevant to our career success, and hone in on the ones that will help us get to the next step toward our goals.

Journaling every day is important. Journaling on a daily basis will help you stay focused and moving towards your goals. Journaling gives you a greater awareness of how you might be sabotaging progress toward your goal. Focus on your goal and it will magically start to unfold. That’s the power of journaling.

Be Part of a Community of Like-minded People
