RISMEDIA, March 26, 2009-Kansas-based business Lowen Corporation, provider of large-format, full-color vehicle wrap graphics, will be holding a unique competition while in attendance at the International Sign Expo, taking place April 16-18 in Las Vegas. Ninety-six professional wrap installers will have the chance to showcase their skills and compete to win a brand new Ford F-250 XL work truck and the title of “America’s Best Wrap Installer” in the first of its kind “Wrap Off” competition.
According to Lowen Corp., contestants will wrap specially designed graphic film (provided by wrap film and laminate industry leader 3M) onto six Ford Mustangs in time heats taking place throughout the convention and could win the grand prize of a Ford F-250 XL work truck loaded with MacTools. Prizes for runners-up include an HP Touchsmart TX-2-1020us Notebook computer, a complete truck tool box and wrapper tool set from MacTools, an OOB Gold graphic software system from Cyrious Control and a free wrapper certification from Lowen. All entrants will receive an exclusive “Wrap-Off” Dickies work shirt for their efforts. Contestants must pre-register at http://www.lowencertified.com
“The sign industry is known for creating impactful visuals in all advertising mediums, so we wanted to create an equally impactful event at the convention,” said Sergio DeSoto, vice president, Sales and Marketing for the Wraps and Media division. “And given the circumstances of the current economy, the grand prize can gain the winners entry into their own wrap installation business.”
Contestants must bring their own tools and can use any they prefer. Lowen will supply propane if a torch head is used. Installer contestants will be paired off on one of six Ford Mustangs and will be given 50 minutes to complete the wrap. The installer who finishes first with the fewest mistakes (mistakes add penalty time) will move on to the next heat. Heats will continue until the last two contestants compete in a grueling two hour contest to determine the winner. Best time for all heats wins. A panel of six independent sign professionals will judge.
