Clean up bedroom clutter in style. Use wood dowels to create a jewelry tree to display and organize accessories.

Step 1: Cut a 6” piece of 3/4” dowel with a 45-degree cut on one end. Attach the flat end to a 4” x 4” treated post cap by driving a 1-1/2” wood screw from the underside of the cap into the dowel to form the trunk of the tree.

Step 2: Cut a 4” piece and a 2” piece of 3/4” dowel, both with 45-degree miters on one end. Glue them together at a 90-degree angle to form an L-shape and let dry. Then glue the combined piece to the top of the 6” piece to split the trunk.

Step 3: Use 22.5-degree, 45-degree, and 90-degree miter settings to cut several pieces of 1/2” and 3/8” dowel in lengths ranging from 3” to 5”. Glue them to the two 3/4” dowels branching up from the 6” piece to form the large branches of the tree.

Step 4: Cut several 1/4” dowels into pieces ranging from 1” to 4” and glue to the larger dowels. Repeat as desired to complete the tree.

Step 5: Paint the tree if desired and let dry. (We used Valspar Signature Twist of Lime.)

Step 6: Glue the post cap to a 6” x 6” porcelain wall tile and clamp until dry.
