New Business Models Fuel Real Estate Recovery: Brokers Change Things up to Succeed in the New Normal

Home News

Reading Time: 2 mins read

Real estate professionals who are succeeding in today’s recovering but still fragile market know that a different approach to doing business is critical for increasing revenue and turning a profit. From office space to compensation structures, today’s leading brokers have changed their business models in a variety of innovative ways in order to take advantage of today’s recovering market conditions.

This critical topic was discussed in-depth yesterday at the Yale Club in New York City during RISMedia’s Real Estate CEO Exchange. During the session, “What’s Your New Model? Breaking the Mold to Break New Ground,” leading brokers shared how they have changed their business and/or operations model to survive and thrive on real estate’s new playing field. From replacing bricks and mortar with virtual and regional locations to innovative solutions for retaining top producers to new compensation models and creative financing solutions, the panel exchanged ideas for thinking outside of the traditional brokerage model in order to operate more effectively in the recovering marketplace.

The panel was moderated by RISMedia President & CEO John Featherston, and Dick Schlott, chairman and CEO, Gloria Nilson REALTORS®, Real Living. Panelists were: Bill Plattos, executive vice president/general manager, First Team Real Estate; Helen Hanna Casey, president, Howard Hanna Real Estate; Scott MacDonald, president, RE/MAX Gateway; and Connie Farmer Ray, president and CEO, Coldwell Banker Platinum Partners.

The panel capped off the first day of the day-and-a-half long CEO Exchange. A Welcome Reception sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate was held immediately following in the Yale Club’s distinguished Tap Room.

Designed specifically for a select group of broker/owners, brand executives and real estate leaders, RISMedia’s Real Estate CEO Exchange is by exclusive invite only. Held September 5 & 6 at the prestigious Yale Club in New York City, the event welcomed approximately 140 of the most powerful and successful real estate brokerage leaders who hail from franchise brands and independent real estate firms located across the nation.
