A Look Inside a Premium, International Real Estate Academy

As a brand, Engel & Völkers has always valued training and coaching as an essential component to maintaining the high level of expertise and service that has come to be expected by the most discerning homebuyers and sellers worldwide—a brand promise that is the foundation of our acclaimed international reputation.

We also take the success of our shops and advisors very seriously. That’s why, in 1995, the Engel & Völkers Academy was established. Today, with training centers in Hamburg, Germany and on Park Avenue in New York, as well as live training implementations and online courses, our Academy provides a global learning platform that ensures that our 8,000-plus advisors in 36 countries share the same understanding and appreciation of the knowledge, skills and techniques required to be the best real estate advisors in the world, as well as leverage the unique value proposition offered by Engel & Völkers.

It starts by attracting some of the smartest and most sophisticated real estate professionals in the industry to join our brand. Research confirms that the most successful brokers and advisors are also huge fans of quality continuing education. This challenges our Academy to constantly be evolving and producing content that represents the newest or emerging topics and techniques.

We also know that success requires a collaborative and like-minded organization, so we’ve developed comprehensive programs for the entire brokerage team, from leadership to advisors and support staff.

Our training and coaching approach is designed to meet three objectives: support our partners and advisors to 1) appreciate and leverage the unique value propositions of our brand; 2) embrace and utilize the marketing, technology and other system tools and resources to most successfully represent more local and international buyers and sellers; and 3) manage and work more effectively from a strategic business plan to achieve transaction and profitability goals.

Teaching our programs are some of the most generous and experienced leaders in the industry: Tom Kunz, executive vice president of Engel & Völkers, former CEO of Century 21 International, and, at one time, owner of one of the largest real estate brokerages in California, brings his leadership experience as an instructor in the coaching and accountability program; Anne Renée Miciak, lead Academy trainer, who has taught more than 5,000 real estate agents on local and national levels with resounding accolades over the past 11 years, teaches all certification programs, expands on industry trends and is one of a handful of instructors in the U.S. who is licensed to teach REBAC certification courses; Shawn Scott, senior manager of Training and Coaching, lends his experience to shape course content and logistics to ensure the quality of the overall experience of each Academy course; Meredythe Brainard, senior manager of Training and Coaching, has years of experience within the Engel & Völkers network as manager of three of the brand’s leading shops in Florida, and is the lead instructor for the System, Tool and Admin Training program, conducting ongoing live training, as well as developing and launching the new Engel & Völkers Academy Online system; and Adam Lerman, vice president of Talent Management, brings more than 20 years of recruiting and training experience and work with license partners to build successful recruiting programs. Also participating in the Academy training program are key subject matter experts from our North American HQ team and global network.

Learning at Engel & Völkers is a never-ending cycle of development and growth that ensures our core values of competence, exclusivity and passion are always top-of-mind. Investing in training and coaching is key to our brand success, our network’s culture and our collective ability to achieve leadership in each market and country that we serve.
