Weichert Workforce Mobility Inc. has acquired TheMIGroup, a global provider of relocation services. The acquisition combines Weichert’s in-house services, including expatriate tax and global assignment management, with TheMIGroup’s household goods shipping and freight-forwarding services, and expands Weichert’s footprint, with offices in Canada and now the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
“As independent, privately held companies since inception, both Weichert and TheMIGroup have fostered client-centric cultures where leaders are empowered to collaborate, innovate and pursue long-term visions without layers of bureaucracy or shareholder interference,” says Dave Bencivengo, president of Weichert Workforce Mobility. “By bringing these companies together, we are furthering our commitment to the industry, creating the provider-of-choice option for organizations seeking robust global capabilities delivered with unmatched flexibility and highly personalized, ‘Legendary Service’ experiences.”
“This acquisition and merger of two industry leaders allows our combined companies and colleague bases to deliver a strong and distinct value proposition to the marketplace,” says Aram Minnetian, COO of the Weichert Companies. “We are the only supplier that will be able to provide an integrated residential real estate, global relocation and household goods solution under the same brand. This is a game changer for companies seeking a state-of-the-art, holistic solution for their mobility programs.
“Both companies are models of stability in an otherwise unpredictable industry with a combined 90 years of business experience—50 for Weichert and 40 for TheMIGroup,” Minnetian says. “Combined, our company will manage more than 40,000 transactions each year, giving us greater volume leverage and cost control, not to mention deeper insight into program and policy data, to help our clients navigate tomorrow’s talent mobility challenges.”
“Our merger with Weichert reflects the tremendous value TheMIGroup has generated for our clients and especially our employees, who will experience greater development and career opportunities as members of a larger, more diverse organization with a dedicated talent management discipline,” says Rick Bennett, chairman and CEO of TheMIGroup. “We’re excited to advance our collective vision as part of Weichert, and we feel that this decision is in the best interest of all of TheMIGroup’s stakeholders.”
“Today, the most critical tool for any company looking to achieve its growth vision is an agile mobile workforce,” Bencivengo says. “This acquisition gives Weichert the service depth and resources to help clients leverage their mobile talent to succeed anywhere in the world. It’s an exciting strategic step in the managed growth of our company and the expansion of our global service delivery platform.”
