Adam Savage, co-host and executive producer of the Discovery Channel’s popular MythBusters series, has been announced as the featured keynote speaker for the National Association of REALTORS® upcoming REALTOR® Broker Summit, taking place in Denver, Colo. on June 9th and 10th.
Savage will kick off the Summit at the Denver Marriott City Center, on June 9th at 1 p.m. Best known for his role on the Emmy-nominated television series MythBusters, Savage is an American industrial design and special effects designer, actor, and educator. During his featured keynote speech, Savage will discuss lessons on curiosity, critical thinking and learning from failure. Attendees will learn how to apply many of Savage’s problem-solving skills to help their businesses succeed.
Born in New York City in 1967, Savage showed an early penchant for science and art classes, the drama club, and elaborate school pranks. During his young-adult years he worked as a projectionist, photo developer, graphic designer, assistant animator, set designer, gallery owner, actor, sculptor, and prop-maker.
Savage eventually landed in the special effects industry, and worked on more than 150 commercials for the likes of Sega, Coca-Cola, Nike, Burger King and Chevrolet. While with George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic, Savage worked on Star Wars, Episodes 1 and 2, Galaxy Quest, Space Cowboys, A.I., Terminator 3, The Mummy, and over a dozen commercials.
In 2002, Jamie Hyneman asked Savage if he’d like to participate in a demo reel for MythBusters. The show aired in January of 2003 and was picked up by Discovery shortly thereafter. Nine years later, it remains one of the network’s highest rated shows. MythBusters has tackled over 750 myths and performed nearly 2,500 experiments. The pair recently completed the second leg of their national MythBusters: Behind the Myths Tour, a live stage version of their popular show complete with experiments, explosions and hijinks.
Attendees will also hear a motivational address from 1984 all-around Olympic gold medal gymnast Mary Lou Retton, who will discuss how sacrifice, hard work and perseverance are critical to success.
With an overarching focus on management, the 2016 REALTOR® Broker Summit will feature topical and thought-provoking business sessions including Recruit and Retain the Best with a Winning Culture, a Power Broker Roundtable presented by RISMedia, Industry Game Changers and How the Internet is Shaping Consumer Expectations.
