RISMEDIA, January 23, 2009-Gary Fowles of The Hasson Company’s Bend, Ore. branch recently announced that the National Home Builders Association’s 2007 Greenest Home in America is now on the market, listed at $429,000.

“Imagine living in a home that was built with the most innovative technology and products,” says Fowles. “For an affordable price, you receive the ultimate home in one of the friendliest, most livable communities in America, Bend, Oregon.”

Built by W.H. Hull Company, this NorthWest Crossing neighborhood home was selected by the National Home Builder’s Association (NAHB) as the 2007 Single-Family Research Project of the Year award winner as part of the National Green Building Awards Competition.

2007-greenest-home-in-america-new.jpgThe craftsman design offers a comfortable living environment that looks and feels like conventional construction but employs the latest energy-efficient technology. With solar panels and convective air slabs to cycle heated air throughout the home, the new homeowner can rest assured his or her heating costs will be reasonable during the coldest months on the High Desert.

“The interior design allows heated air to rise to a separate thermostat, which triggers a fan to push air down again at certain higher temperatures,” says builder Bill Hull. “Staggered studs in exterior walls allow for more effective coverage of insulation. High durability products were chosen for this home at a reasonable cost while foregoing products that had less longevity. And a major recycling effort during the construction process reduced landfill waste by 80 percent.”

Earth Advantage® certified the home at a Platinum level for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, resource efficiency and environmental responsibility. The home was also identified as having an Earth Advantage Platinum Standard for the open and inviting floor plan that features a gas fireplace and main floor master suite. Bathrooms boast dual flush toilets and solar hot water panels to assist water heating.

Known as the Palm Springs of the Pacific Northwest, Bend, Ore. hosts a variety of events year round, perfect for the outdoor enthusiast as well as individuals who just like to relax in a down-to-earth environment.
