RISMEDIA, September 18, 2009—With a variety of festive Fall activities, Autumn’s the perfect season to get out and play along the Susquehanna River in York County. Take a hot air balloon ride to get a bird’s eye view, see centuries old Native American river rock art up close, or paddle the Susquehanna River. These are just a few of the many exciting activities you can enjoy during Autumn on the Susquehanna River.
River Recreation
Paddle to the Conejohela Flats, a major migratory route along the Atlantic flyway that Audubon Field Guide writer Ken Kauffman noted as a preferred pit stop for tundra swans, herons and egrets.
Local Fare and Vino with Flare
Explore local shops, sample regional fare and discover quaint rivertownes that define the spirit of the Susquehanna Valley. Enjoy harvest season as you sample a variety of vintages with a view along the UnCork York Wine Trail.
Harvest’s Hum
Witness the hustle and bustle of autumn at Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market with farm tours, pick-your-own pumpkins, pumpkin bowling, and pedal tractor races during the Annual Fall Harvest Celebration October 10, 2009.
Stunning Landscape
Enjoy the vista that George Washington relished at Sam Lewis State Park, from a-top Mt. Pisgah. Stop at Highpoint Scenic Vista & Recreation Area, located on top of a hill over-looking the Susquehanna River. The 193-mile Mason-Dixon Trail runs through Highpoint, providing pictorial views of the river.
